What is Reiki?

Reiki (ray-key) is a Japanese word. Rei means “Universal Life” and Ki means “Energy”. Reiki is the universal energy that flows through all living things. This healing technique that was founded in Japan by a Buddhist monk named Dr. Usui. Reiki uses this Universal Life Energy by allowing it to flow through the hands of the practitioner into the body of the client. It works on healing us physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.

Reiki has become increasingly popular as a complementary therapy to Western medicine since 1938 when it was brought to Hawaii by Hawayo Takata. Today it is even being done in hospitals on the medical floors and during surgery to help promote healing.

Reiki is powerful on its own and as a complementary therapy with other wellness treatments. These sessions are extremely relaxing and wonderful for the mind, body and soul!

5 Principles of Reiki

Just for today, I will not worry.

Just for today, I will not be angry.

Just for today, I will be grateful.

Just for today, I will do my work honestly.

Just for today, I will be kind to every living thing.

Reiki is love, love is wholeness, wholeness is balance, balance is well-being, Well-being is freedom from disease
